For example, during translations, one of the most copied publications, the Bible, suffered multiple scribal errors and word replacements. As a result, just a few novels became available. Scholars and monks valued them for their rarity, which made them valuable and special.

Woodblock printing is a forerunner to the printing press. For each page, a relief pattern was carved into a block of wood, which was then painted with ink. The relief pattern is then printed by pressing it to a surface. If you wanted to change anything, you’d have to carve a new block, as you can see.

Since then, a slew of new features have been introduced to the way we print. The invention of continuous rolls of paper in the 1800s boosted printing efficiency. This resulted in an increase in the circulation of print media, particularly newspapers and pamphlets. As a result, in modern times, cheaper newspapers, periodicals, postcards, flyers, and other promotional materials have emerged.

The printing press was also responsible for the invention of fonts, which is great news for typography fans. The majority of fonts used now were created in the 18th century. The typewriter was based on the printing press’s movable types technology, which led to the creation of word processing software and computer printing.

The impact of printing on culture and society is difficult to quantify.
